Police investigate series of mysterious explosions, bomb reports at wealthy Melbourne suburbs
Melbourne residents were startled by a series of loud explosions in the suburbs of Northcote, Ivanhoe and East Kew on Sunday.

Victoria police are investigating a series of explosions across three wealthy Melbourne suburbs, leaving rubbish bins, letterboxes and a washing machine destroyed.
An explosive device was placed inside a washing machine at the back of a ute parked on Kilby Road, East Kew, just after 9pm.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed for forensic examination.
Two other incidents were also reported earlier that night.
Ute destroyed by explosive device in string of Melbourne blasts
A string of explosions that destroyed a ute, rubbish bins and letterboxes across three Melbourne suburbs are being investigated by police.
The explosions are suspected to have been set off by pipe bombs and explosive devices in Ivanhoe, East Kew and Northcote overnight.
Police said an explosive device had been placed inside a washing machine on the back of a ute parked in Kilby Road about 9.10pm.
The explosions destroyed a vehicle and a number of rubbish bins and letterboxes across three Melbourne suburbs.(Nine)
The ute s owner Richard Luff described the incident as a bit scary .
