EOHU discloses 18 new COVID-19 cases, active cases drop by three

The 18 new COVID-19 cases disclosed by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit on Tuesday afternoon remain within the daily average increases posted in recent weeks.
Of the 18, two are in Cornwall, seven in the northern portion of Akwesasne (some of which were already disclosed earlier by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne), one in North Glengarry, one in South Dundas, one in Russell, one in Champlain, two in Alfred & Plantagenet, and three in Clarence-Rockland. The running total of COVID-19 cases within the EOHU is 4,693.

Recent COVID-19 caseload trends held steady within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit on Tuesday, with 18 new confirmed cases and a slight increase in active cases.
Of the 18, six new cases were in Cornwall, one in North Stormont, one in North Dundas, one in East Hawkesbury, two in Hawkesbury, one in Alfred & Plantagenet, and six in Clarence-Rockland. The running total of cases within the health unit now sits at 4,467.

Ottawa sees record number of new COVID-19 cases on Friday

OTTAWA
Ottawa Public Health reported 242 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Friday, the highest one-day case count in the capital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There is one new death linked to COVID-19.
Since the first case of COVID-19 in Ottawa on March 11, 2020, there have been 19,030 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 471 deaths.
Ottawa s positivity rate increased to 9.2 per cent for the period of April 2 to 8 from 8.8 per cent. Ottawa s weekly incidence rate is now 146 cases per 100,000 people.
The number of cases involving variants of concern increased to 1,623 cases in Ottawa on Friday from 613 on Thursday. Public health reported a sixth death linked to variants of concern in the capital. ....

Ottawa Public Health reported 242 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Friday, the highest one-day case count in the capital during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city also set records for hospitalizations and positivity rate on Friday.
The surging numbers prompted the city’s medical officer of health to issue a rallying cry to Ottawa residents, saying the city has reached a key point in the COVID-19 “marathon.”
“We are tired. We’re fatigued. We want this to be over. And this is the point in our COVID marathon where we’re hitting the wall,” Dr. Vera Etches told reporters Friday. “This is our defining moment. It’s a moment where we’ve got to break through that wall. ....
