The US Department of the Interior (DOI) has given the green light to the construction of a utility-scale solar-plus-storage project on public land in California.
The DOI announced on Monday (3 May) that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given final approval to the Crimson Solar Project, a 350MW solar PV array with a 350MW/1,400MWh energy storage system that will generate power through the Southern California Edison Colorado River Substation.
The project will be owned by renewables company Sonoran West Solar Holdings, a subsidiary of utility-scale developer Recurrent Energy and Canadian Solar. The Biden Administration Is Fulfilling Its Conservation Promises in the First 100 Days
April 30, 2021, 4:00 am
With the passage of a massive economic rescue bill, more than 200 million vaccines distributed, a historically diverse Cabinet in place, and a pledge to cut carbon emissions upward of 50 percent, it’s clear that the Biden administration has wasted no time during its first 100 days. As part of its effort to take a whole-of-government approach to solving the overlapping health, economic, racial justice, and climate crises, the administration has also been rapidly fulfilling its conservation commitments to the American public.

Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jen Psaki, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, and National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, April 22, 2021

MS. PSAKI:  Okay.  Happy Earth Day, everyone.  And joining us in the Briefing Room for the second time I told you they’d come back and take more questions; I deliver on my promises is National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.

We’re, of course, very excited to have them here.  After their short remarks, they will be able to take just a few questions because they have a busy Climate Summit under way.

On day one, President Biden fulfilled his promise to rejoin the Paris Agreement.  And as part of reentering the Paris Agreement, the President launched a whole-of-government process that was organized through his Climate Task Force to establish the 2030 emissions target, which is known as the “nationally determined contribution” or “NDC.”  And it’s a formal submission to the United Nations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. ....
