The US Department of the Interior (DOI) has given the green light to the construction of a utility-scale solar-plus-storage project on public land in California.
The DOI announced on Monday (3 May) that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given final approval to the Crimson Solar Project, a 350MW solar PV array with a 350MW/1,400MWh energy storage system that will generate power through the Southern California Edison Colorado River Substation.
The project will be owned by renewables company Sonoran West Solar Holdings, a subsidiary of utility-scale developer Recurrent Energy and Canadian Solar. It will be built on 2,500 acres of Federal land in Riverside County, according to an impact statement, and is expected to require an investment of US$500 million. The DOI said in a s ....

US greenlights $550m solar project in California desert
The plant will be capable of powering nearly 90,000 homes
The US Government has greenlit a massive solar energy project in the California desert.
The $550 million (£396m) ‘Crimson Solar’ project is predicted to cover the electricity needs of 87,500 homes.
Located in an area designated for renewable energy development, the plant will include a 350MW solar PV facility combined with a 350MW energy storage system – both will occupy more than eight million square metres of land.
The construction of the project is also forecast to create an estimated 650 jobs.
The move follows Joe Biden’s goal to expand the development of renewable energy projects to underpin the nation’s goal for carbon-free electricity by 2035.  ....

The United States officially announced, on Monday, the approval of another giant solar energy project to be built on the public lands of California. It is slated to power up to 90,000 homes. 
This project is dubbed as the Crimson Solar Project and will sit on 2,000 acres of federal land in Blyth, California. To add, it is worth a whopping $550 million, the Department of the Interior said, via Reuters report. 
In addition, the said project vows to contribute to climate change and provide more jobs for Americans.

The Interior Department announced that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given final approval to a new solar energy project on public lands in California. The Crimson Solar Project represents an investment of roughly $550 million and has the potential to deliver enough power to energize approximately 87,500 homes.

The Record of Decision authorizes Sonoran West to construct a 350-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic facility with a 350-MW energy storage system and the necessary ancillary support facilities to generate and deliver power through the Southern California Edison Colorado River Substation.
