CHESHIRE â The Town Council has been working to solidify an operating budget for the past few months, and they are finally nearing the end of deliberations.
At the last budget workshop meeting held on May 13, councilors voiced their support for a half-mill rate increase, with the intention to hold an official vote on the budget May 25.
âOur goal, generally, is for a half-mill increase,â Chairman Rob Oris said. âWe know our taxpayers really cannot afford anything more than that. We had a zero mill increase last year â with everything going on, we felt that was really the strike-zone for all of us.â
