As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 40 active wildfires in the Fort McMurray Forest Area. Six are considered out of control, 25 are being held, and nine are reportedly under control. Thirty-seven are believed to have been caused by lightning with the other three still being looked into. The majority are around one hectare in size, while the biggest is around 10,800 hectares. This fire is north of Fort McKay, close to the Saskatchewan Border, and is reportedly being held. ....

Twin brothers Daniel and Nick Keys along with Lyndsey Janes each be walked around 80 km on Saturday in an attempt to raise $3,000 for the Canadian Mental Health Association of Wood Buffalo. They ended up raising nearly $5,200. Speaking on Fort McMurray Matters, the three friends stated they wanted to support CMHA of Wood Buffalo as they’ve seen a rise in people looking to access their programs and services. ....

She has represented Ward 4, which covers Anzac, Conklin, Janvier, and Gregoire Lake Estates, since first getting elected back in 2010. Stroud tells Mix News she wants to return to see the completion of multiple projects for the four rural communities. “I want to see the rural, water, and sewer hooked up to all homes, the extension of walking paths in Conklin and Anzac, and progress on the egress roads for Janvier and Anzac.” She adds she also wants to see all roads be paved in Anzac and Conklin and increase access to high-speed internet. ....

An online survey has been available for several weeks and closes on Friday.
