This according to at least one local family and Tany Yao, MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo. Local resident Ian Seggie tells Mix News his mother, Ann, had booked an appointment in Edmonton to get her sinus checked at a specialist as she was having trouble breathing. Despite receiving a negative COVID-19 test, he says it was later canceled over the fear of her still potentially being infected due to the case totals in the community. ....
By Jaryn Vecchio Old downtown movie theatre // Steph Seidel - Harvard Broadcasting Arts Councill Wood Buffalo is moving forward with turning the old downtown movie theatre into an arts incubator. They recently held a survey to get public feedback on the potential project, getting an overwhelming level of support with nearly half of the respondents stating they don’t consider themselves artists. Executive Director Liana Wheeldon tells Mix News they see this space doing wonders for the local art community. “A lot of artists in our region do this as kind of a side hustle or off the corner of a kitchen table, but to be able to have the opportunity to have some purpose-built space to be able to create art will do so much for their practice.” ....

They, in partnership with Bouchier, are creating Love.Shop.Local. prepaid gift cards which can only be used at participating businesses in the community. Dianna de Sousa, Executive Director, tells Mix News they’re hoping these cards become quite popular as it will be a big boost to the local economy. “Sixty-five per cent of persons who walk in with a gift card will spend 35 per cent more than the value of the card, so it creates local traffic.” ....
