Palm Beach Daily News If you missed the chance to see Palm Beach Dramaworks’ production of The Belle of Amherst online last month, you’ll get the opportunity next year to see it live. The West Palm Beach-based theater troupe announced Wednesday that Margery Lowe will return at the end of the 2021-22 season in May to recreate her role as the American poet Emily Dickinson in William Luce’s one-woman show. “The feedback on this production was so extraordinary that we wanted it to have a new life in front of an audience. That was the only thing missing from our online version,” producing artistic director William Hayes said in a prepared statement. ....
The Palm Beach Synagogue is expanding again on the same block of North County Road. The Modern Orthodox congregation just paid a recorded $7.15 million for an adjacent building that for years was home to the now-shuttered Bistro Chez Jean-Pierre. The Palm Beach Orthodox Synagogue Corp. bought the building and its rear parking lot at 132 N. County Road through a deed recorded late Friday. Built in 1925 but substantially renovated in 1980s, the L-shaped, two-story building has 8,554 square feet and includes a suite of storefronts and offices on the north side of the parking lot. In all, the land measures about a half-acre, property records show. ....
Palm Beach Daily News Lee Bell, who for more than 30 years has booked the season’s shows at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, has been nominated for a programming award from the Association of Performing Arts Professionals. Bell, the Kravis’ senior director of programming, is one of 18 nominees for the William Dawson Award for Programmatic Excellence and Sustained Achievement in Programming. The award will be presented during a virtual ceremony on May 6. “I’m honored to be recognized for the work that I have enjoyed for more than 30 years,” Bell said in a prepared statement earlier this month. “Although all of us have faced many challenges in the last year, the industry forges ahead and the performing arts continues to inspire and unite people from around the world something that I am very proud to be a part of.” ....
