An Allerdale councillor has picked the wrong people to fight with over public toilets, he has been told. Adrian Kirkbride, an independent councillor, approached Maryport Town Council about having public toilets back in the town despite the fact there is one in Irish Street owned by Allerdale. Cllr Kirkbride posted on social media: “Having received word back from Maryport Town Council that they will not support my aim of having public toilets back in Maryport. Disappointed isn’t the word but hope is not lost at my end, I’ll be trying other angles to have these put in place. So please bear with me, it’s not over yet. Thanks to those who have messaged me with support to date, it is appreciated and I’ll keep you updated as I continue this uphill marathon.” ....

Photo: Tama County Jail Michael Anthony Earp pled not guilty for attempted murder April 8 stemming from a March 5 shooting incident in Chelsea. Along with an attempted murder charge, the 49-year-old Earp was charged on April 12 with a felony controlled substance violation. A follow up search warrant was conducted following the shooting investigation. Approximately 23 grams of methamphetamine was located as well as packaging, digital scales, drug ledgers and $8,177 in U.S. currency. Indica was located near some of the methamphetamine with Earp’s name on it to include a one gallon size ziploc bag with methamphetamine residue with “Earp” written on it. There were also messages indicating drug sales on Earp’s phone. ....

Officers arrived around 5:30 p.m. at 208 Irish St. in Chelsea, the scene of a recent shooting incident that has since led to an attempted murder charge and a felony drug charge. Tama County Sheriff Dennis Kucera said an individual in the upper floor of the house at 208 Irish St. called to report a male individual was in the lower floor of the home and appeared agitated. The reporting party thought the man in the lower floor had a gun and requested assistance from law enforcement. ....
