Stateline Complex fires grow to 2,856 acres MTN and last updated 2021-07-25 18:43:42-04 The fires within the Stateline Complex continued spreading in all directions on Saturday and have now burnt 2,856 acres, according to a Southwest Area Incident Management Team 5 update. The Stateline Complex is burning on the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, to the south and west of the Idaho-Montana state line, and approximately thirteen air-miles south/west of St. Regis. Firefighters are expecting similar fire behavior on Sunday as was seen earlier in the weekend with consistent spread in dead fuels. On Saturday, July 24, the Lolo National Forest issued several emergency closures due to increased fire activity on the Stateline Complex. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said the local dispatch area recently saw an increase to Preparedness Level 4 (PL4). This means several areas are experiencing large, complex wildfires, suppression resources are spread thin and a majority of other firefighting personnel are committed to wildland fires. The conditions have prompted Stage 2 fire restrictions to be implemented on the Coeur d’Alene Fire Restriction area, which will start on Monday, July 12, and remain in effect until further notice. The Bonners Ferry Ranger District of Idaho Panhandle National Forests said the fire was detected at around noon on Friday, and is burning heavily timbered Subalpine Fir and dying Lodgepole Pine. They said five firebosses four large air tankers, three helicopters and an engine with five crew members, among other resources, are responding. The fire is reported to be around 30 acres.
