The Town has committed to contributing $42,988 in 2021 to what’s being called the “Regional Air Services Opportunity Fund.” The donation stems from Stony Plain’s position as a founding member and shareholder of Edmonton Global, the Edmonton Metropolitan Region’s first-ever economic development corporation aimed at attracting foreign investment to the area. The Town’s contribution will be funded using the $50,000 Economic Development and Regional Reserve budget.

CALGARY Alberta must position itself as a clean energy leader to move forward in the aftermath of the Keystone XL pipeline cancellation, Alberta’s trade envoy to Washington said Friday.
“We can make a very strong argument for further investment in the entire energy spectrum in Alberta,” James Rajotte said in an interview. “Any kind of energy (U.S. investors) would want to invest in, we would have in Alberta.” ....
