Voters in Southlake, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, gave school board and city council candidates who oppose putting critical race theory in public school curriculums 70 percent of the vote in an election on Saturday.
The election comes nine months after the Carroll Independent School District introduced a proposal to install so-called “anti-racism” and “cultural competency” lessons into the schools.
Congrats to Southlake, Hannah, Cam, John, Randy and Amy! Critical Race Theory ain’t coming here. This is what happens when good people stand up and say, not in my town, not on my watch.

A wealthy Dallas-Fort Worth suburb overwhelmingly defeated critical race theory curriculum in a Saturday election after monthslong debate and campaigning.
Southlake, Texas, which saw over 9,000 people cast ballots, a three-fold increase from the last local election,
voted resoundingly to elect all candidates backed by the conservative Southlake Families PAC, including a mayor, two City Council seats, and two school board seats. The Republican victory came months after liberal groups promoted a Five-Year Cultural Competence Action Plan for the school district in response to a 2018 incident in which students were seen on video chanting the N-word after homecoming at a private event. ....

Southlake’s May 2021 election results are in. John Huffman will act as Southlake’s new mayor after winning 70.54% of the vote, earning 6,618 votes. His opponent Debra Edmondson received 29.46% of the vote, or 2,764 votes. 
In the Southlake City Council Place 2 election, Randy Robbins received 70.4% of the vote, or 6,523 votes. His opponent Sabreena Hakemy received 29.6% of the vote, or 2,742 votes. 
In the Southlake City Council Place 5 election, Amy Torres-Lepp received 69.94% of the vote, or 6,515 votes. Her opponent Elisha Rurka earned 30.06% of the vote, or 2,800 votes. 
In the CISD School Board Place 4 race, Cameron “Cam” Bryan received 68.47% of the vote, with 6,849 votes cast. His opponent Lynda Warner received 31.53% of the vote, with 3,154 votes cast.  ....
