During welcome remarks, Mr. Sardar Umar Alam expressed his appreciation for the high-level participation from the Royal Government of Cambodia to advocate for promoting sustainable beekeeping as a viable alternative income-generation livelihood opportunity in Cambodia. He stated that, “It is critical to promote public-private partnerships for sustainable beekeeping by keeping people and local communities at the core of all interventions, providing financial incentives for SMEs and the private sector, and strengthening regulatory and quality control mechanisms for bee conservation and bee-products to promote innovative bee-value-chain and green growth in Cambodia.” He further said that “Cambodia has a potential to not only cater to its own domestic apiculture market, but also can export to other high-value markets. This is an opportunity that Cambodia cannot miss.” ....

Share As a follow-up to the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held on 17-19 May 2021, and in line with the Berlin Declaration, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia and the UNESCO Phnom Penh Office co-organized a national consultation on ESD for 2030 on 5 July 2021. Over 180 participants from MoEYS, concerned government ministries, development partners, representatives from NGOs, universities, education institutes took part in the online event. The national consultation discussed the needs, achievements, challenges, available resources and concrete implementation plans of the new ESD for 2030 framework and agreed on the Country Initiative for ESD 2030 around its five Priority Action Areas, namely (1) Advancing policy; (2) Transforming learning environments; (3) Building capacities of educators; (4) Empowering and mobilizing youth; and (5) Accelerating local level actions. Share to ៖ AKP Phnom Penh, July 06, 2021 The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in collaboration with UNESCO has organised a consultation workshop on Education for Sustainable Development 2030 in Cambodia. The meeting took place yesterday through a video conference under the presidency of H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and Mr. Sardar Umar Alam, UNESCO Representative to Cambodia. Some 200 education senior officials, education policy makers at different levels, experts, UNESCO representatives, and concerned partners joined the virtual meeting. The meeting aimed at promoting a participatory preparation of five education priorities to support sustainable development 2030. The five priorities include prioritisation policies, positive change for learning, building education capacity, youth s empowerment and movement, and acceleration of local activities. ....
