After an unprecedented high, the trajectory of COVID-19 cases seem to be finally falling down in India. With cases peaking across states, the positivity rate going down, experts believe that the deadly second wave of coronavirus, attributed to the mutant virus variant, seems to be finally coming closer to declining.
Yet, there s one factor that continues to be concerning- staggering fatalities.
Despite the second wave of coronavirus showing signs of ebbing since the second week of May, across India, hospitalizations continue to be on the higher side, and COVID-19 deaths are rising.
If numbers are to go by, not only did the rising numbers engulf the country starting February end, the number of fatalities have been continuously on the rise. A study conducted by John Hopkins University points out that the number of new deaths rose by a whopping 143% in the recent three months. ....

As Mumbai local train service resumes, social distancing goes off track

Mumbai s local trains, considered the lifeline for commuters in the city, resumed operations with restricted timings from February 1. Ever since the local train services resumed in the city, Covid-19 restrictions like social distancing and mask-wearing have gone for a toss.
The precautionary measures are not being strictly followed either at the platform ticket counters or at the platforms. Many commuters seem to be under the impression that the worst is past them. Some are not even afraid of letting their guards down.

Region announces distribution task force for COVID-19 vaccine

The Region of Waterloo has formed a COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force, which will be led by Deputy Chief Shirley Hilton with Waterloo Regional Police. 
It will also be comprised of members of several agencies - including our local hospitals, public health, and both paramedic and fire services. 
A release from officials said, The task force will ensure an efficient, equitable plan is in place for delivery of the immunization program.
The details were announced on Friday, ahead of Premier Doug Ford s news conference. He released details on the province s COVID-19 vaccine roll-out plan. ....
