× Residents can get tested for free at the Bayonne Community Museum. The walk-in COVID-19 testing site at the Bayonne Community Museum has announced additional dates to get tested. It will now be open on Jan. 27, Feb. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24. In December, Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti and the City of Bayonne announced the establishment of the testing site ahead of the winter holiday season. Chiaravalloti represents the 31st Legislative District, encompassing Bayonne and parts of Jersey City. The site, in the Bayonne Community Museum at 229 Broadway, offered COVID-19 tests before, during, and after the holidays. The free testing is provided by Fusion Diagnostic Laboratories to all Bayonne residents. The program is also supported by the Bayonne nonprofit Moving Forward Together. ....

× COVID-19 cases have decreased for the first time in nearly eleven weeks. As of Dec. 17, there were 239 active cases, according to the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management (OEM). This is a decrease in 106 cases since Dec. 10. Another resident has died: an 86-year-old woman. OEM said that 3,012 residents tested positive, regardless of where that test was given, as of Dec. 17. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 88 Bayonne residents have died, and 2,685 have recovered. COVID-19 hospitalizations at BMC remain low because most residents recover at home. There were 20 COVID-19 patients at BMC as of Dec. 17. OEM does not have data on Bayonne residents in hospitals other than BMC. ....
