As of Feb. 11, there were less than 400 active virus cases, according to the Bayonne Office of Emergency Management. Approximately 100 residents have died of the virus since the onset of the pandemic. The number of hospitalizations is down, as most residents recover at home. There were nine COVID-19 patients at Bayonne Medical Center as of Feb. 11. OEM does not have data on Bayonne residents in other hospitals. COVID-19 in Bayonne Cavanaugh said that for almost a year, the BHD, led by Michelle O’ Reilly, has been working nonstop to educate, monitor, trace, and vaccinate the community. Over the last few months, active cases of COVID-19 have been on the rise, she said. As of Jan 28, there were under 500 active cases, according to Office of Emergency Management. × Residents can get tested for free at the Bayonne Community Museum. The walk-in COVID-19 testing site at the Bayonne Community Museum has announced additional dates to get tested. It will now be open on Jan. 27, Feb. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24. In December, Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti and the City of Bayonne announced the establishment of the testing site ahead of the winter holiday season. Chiaravalloti represents the 31st Legislative District, encompassing Bayonne and parts of Jersey City. The site, in the Bayonne Community Museum at 229 Broadway, offered COVID-19 tests before, during, and after the holidays. The free testing is provided by Fusion Diagnostic Laboratories to all Bayonne residents. The program is also supported by the Bayonne nonprofit Moving Forward Together. ....

Residents eligible to receive the vaccine can make an appointment at Bayonne Medical center by emailing [email protected] or leaving a voicemail at 201-858-6088. Registrants need to provide their names, dates of birth, and phone numbers. The city will then contact those who registered. Hudson County residents can register at the facility in Kearny by going to hudsoncovidvax.org. Mayor James Davis warned that if they get the first shot there, they must get their second shot there. Appointments are dependent on the availability of the vaccine. ....
