July 1, 2021 KARACHI: With the monsoon season drawing closer, K-Electric (KE) and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) jointly inaugurated two newly elevated sub-stations located within DHA’s Phase 4 & 8 locales. The inauguration ceremony for two of the substations was chaired by the DHA Administrator – Brigadier Rai Asim Mustafa. Others in attendance were DHA’s Chief Engineer – Col. Rashid Javed Butt, DHA Project Development Director Col. Arshad Qadeer Sheikh (Rtd), DHA Director Marketing – Col. Kashif Afzal (Rtd), DHA Director Coordination – Col. Bilal Ahmed Sheikh (Rtd) and DHA’s Additional Director Electrical – Lt. Col. Muhammad Faraz (Rtd). ‘KE committed to facilitating industrial customers’ Karachi March 14, 2021 K-Electric said on Saturday it was fully committed and engaged with industry stakeholders to ensure fresh electricity connections as well as load-enhancement for its industrial consumers, In a statement, the power utility said it has always prioritised its industrial customers and continues to do so following the recent decision of the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) to discontinue the gas supply to captive power plants of non-export related industries. It has been working round the clock to ensure that there is minimal disruption to industrial activities. It said: “As per surveys conducted by the power utility, the overall load-requirement/load-enhancement of captive power plants that will be connected to the grid is around 747 MW, spread across 743 customers. ....

The overall load-requirement and enhancement of captive power plants (CPPs) that will be connected to the grid is around 747 MW, spread across 743 customers, the statement said, citing surveys conducted by the utility. “More than 500 customers have already been contacted by the power utility for load requirements amounting to around 300MW. Permission for load-requirement or load-enhancement survey is awaited from around 100 customers,” the statement added. ....
