July 1, 2021 KARACHI: With the monsoon season drawing closer, K-Electric (KE) and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) jointly inaugurated two newly elevated sub-stations located within DHA’s Phase 4 & 8 locales. The inauguration ceremony for two of the substations was chaired by the DHA Administrator – Brigadier Rai Asim Mustafa. Others in attendance were DHA’s Chief Engineer – Col. Rashid Javed Butt, DHA Project Development Director Col. Arshad Qadeer Sheikh (Rtd), DHA Director Marketing – Col. Kashif Afzal (Rtd), DHA Director Coordination – Col. Bilal Ahmed Sheikh (Rtd) and DHA’s Additional Director Electrical – Lt. Col. Muhammad Faraz (Rtd). End-consumers will pay some of additional cost; govt will bear the rest KARACHI: K-Electric has said that enhanced use of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) to meet growing demand for power from the city of ports during the summer season will cost an additional Rs18 billion during March-September and consumers will partially share the cost. Besides, the company has decided to provide maximum possible relief to its consumers during Ramazan, but it would strictly follow its policy of intentional load-shedding of up to seven hours a day in 25% areas in the city, said K-Electric CEO Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi. The company resorts to intentional load-shedding in some areas due to low recovery of monthly billing from those parts, it has been learnt. ....

The power utility added that on the occasion of Eid, the entire city would not face any power outage. KE s Chief Marketing and Communication Officer (CMCO) Sadia Dada, addressing a press conference alongside the company s chief executive Moonis Alvi, said a 220 KV double circuit project in Jamshoro has been completed with the help of the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC). The spokesperson said NTDC has allowed KE to add 450 MW to its system, following which, a total of 1,100 MW electricity would be provided to Karachi. ....
