As with most large gatherings, the tradition recognized as the unofficial rodeo kickoff was modified and will instead be a private event serving local non-profit groups this year. But San Antonio is still finding a way to get the public bucking for breakfast. A few hangouts are offering Cowboy Breakfast-themed offshoot events. (KSAT) SAN ANTONIO – A Smithson Valley High School student was selected as a winner of a $4,000 scholarship after she entered an original artwork for the 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Western Art Contest. According to a press release from the Comal Independent School District, sophomore Reagan Bolt’s “Cowboy” placed in the top 17 of the contest, along with being selected as one of 12 paintings as an “at large” winner. The at large win earned her the scholarship, the press release said. ....

2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Tickets Go on Sale This Week Published: December 16, 2020 Ticket sales open Thursday for a reimagined 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Executive director and CEO Cody Davenport says they’ll take the rodeo from the AT&T Center back to the Freeman Coliseum, where it was held prior to 2003, and create a retro-feeling event that focuses on the traditional rodeo events plus the livestock show, which already has attracted 17,500 entries from youth. The smaller venue allows for more safety during COVID-19 and only a limited number of seats will be available to allow for social distancing. “It’s going to be a heck of a memory,” Davenport said during a Facebook Live update on Dec. 16. ....
