The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo returns this month, but, as with all things during the COVID-19 pandemic, it will look a little different this year.
To start, the nighttime rodeo has moved from the AT&T Center back to the Freeman Coliseum, where it was held prior to 2003. The smaller venue allows for more safety during COVID-19 and only a limited number of seats will be available to allow for social distancing.
Along with the tournament-style rodeo, there are several artists scheduled to perform following the evening rodeos, including Roger Creager on Feb. 13, Aaron Watson on Feb. 21 and Kevin Fowler following the PRCA Rodeo Finals on Feb. 27 (see below for a full lineup). ....

Ticket sales open Thursday for a reimagined 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
Executive director and CEO Cody Davenport says they’ll take the rodeo from the AT&T Center back to the Freeman Coliseum, where it was held prior to 2003, and create a retro-feeling event that focuses on the traditional rodeo events plus the livestock show, which already has attracted 17,500 entries from youth. The smaller venue allows for more safety during COVID-19 and only a limited number of seats will be available to allow for social distancing. “It’s going to be a heck of a memory,” Davenport said during a Facebook Live update on Dec. 16. ....
