If you ve ever searched for ground corn in the dry goods section of your grocery store, you know: It can be rather confusing. There s cornmeal and grits and polenta, oh my! Cornmeal is available in white or yellow, and sometimes has no indication about the size of the granules on the packaging. Some packages of grits and polenta have instant or quick labels (which you should avoid if at all possible). And labeling like instant polenta cornmeal, enriched white hominy on a canister of old-fashioned grits and corn grits also known as polenta just makes my head spin even more. ....

The Rio Grande Ran Down Mills Street and Cleveland Square Was a Cemetery
Ponce De Leon (the rancher, not the explorer) had his ranch house on the site of the big 12 stories Anson Mills building when El Paso was a goat ranch.
The river ran down Mills Street in the days before Park Pitman was county clerk, which was a long time ago.
Mundy brothers, J.J. and H.M., traded six bare-legged sheep for Mundy Heights and were afraid for years that they had been the goat in the deal. Now lots sell there for $2,000 each.
Carnegie square was a public burying ground and Cleveland square was a military cemetery when Fort Bliss was located in the pass. ....

It might not feel like it, but we
have made meaningful progress in this pandemic. Thanks to a vast reduction in COVID numbers and expanded availability and distribution of vaccines, the city of Los Angeles which just a few months ago represented the epicenter of a devastating COVID surge has been able to gradually reopen (with accommodations, of course), including the permittance of limited capacity outdoor dining at restaurants.
And with an abundance of warm sunny days regardless of the season, many of LA’s restaurants were already prepared with patios and rooftops to welcome diners, while those that weren’t quickly revamped their sidewalks and parking lots to meet the new regulations. According to the latest restrictions, outdoor seating is limited to 50% capacity and tables must be spaced at least eight feet apart, but diners from up to three different ....
