Some Vietnamese enterprises have invested in electric-car manufacturing and charging stations, but an overall electric car strategy has yet to be developed by the government.
The Government Office recently released a notice about the Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s decision on electric car policy in the next five years.
Khai asked the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to join forces with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment (MONRE) to collect opinions on Vingroup’s proposal about the development of electric cars and report to the Government. ....

Vingroup has sent a dispatch to the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee, proposing a project on an automobile complex.
The complex would include the VinFast automobile manufacturing factory and a chain of factories making car parts and hi-tech audio-video devices.
The group wants to set the automobile complex in Vung Ang Economic Zone, covering an area of 2,000 hectares.
There are large automobile centers in Vietnam, including Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Quang Nam, HCM City and Binh Duong. If provincial authorities give the nod on the project, Vietnam would have one more center in Ha Tinh. ....

In early 2018, a company in Hanoi went to the US to learn about a model of electric cars - Tesla Model 3 - for distributing in Vietnam. In Southeast Asia, Thailand and Indonesia are running a race to become electric car manufacturing centers of the region and the world. Will Vietnam join the race?
VinFast has announced it has begun taking orders for its first electric car model VF e34 and plans to deliver cars by November.
VinFast VF e34 is a C-class electric car model, equipped with one electric engine with maximum capacity of 110 KW, using 42kWh battery that allows a distance of 300 kilometers after every battery charge. If using the fast charging mode, the car will be able to go 180 kilometers after 15 minutes of charge. ....
