Pork imports from Russia soar ten-fold
Pork imports from Russia surged over 1,000% in the first quarter of this year, making Russia the biggest supplier of pork to Vietnam, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Data of the department showed that in the first three months of 2021, Vietnam imported 16,550 tons of pork worth US$44.85 million from Russia, soaring 1,116% in volume and 1,002% in value compared with the same period last year.
In total, the country imported 169,290 tons of meat of all kinds worth US$337.18 million in the first quarter, rising 0.5% in volume and 22.4% in value year-on-year. ....

Hanoi - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed the Government consider policies to tighten exports of steel products to stabilise the domestic market amid soaring steel prices in recent months.

HÀ NỘI The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed the Government consider policies to tighten exports of steel products to stabilise the domestic market amid soaring steel prices in recent months.
At a recent Government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Lê Minh Khái asked the ministry to find solutions to increase domestic steel production and ensure supply and demand balance.
The ministry said that soaring steel prices had hit not only Việt Nam but also the global market. Domestic steel production is heavily dependent on imported raw materials, making a price increase unavoidable. ....

Boosting domestic resource mobilisation is critical for Zimbabwe’s economy going forward as external financing for the country is likely to remain clogged, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has said. 
Official data shows that the country’s total public debt stands at US$11,1 billion, approximately 53,9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). 
And of that total, 95,6 percent is external, which includes $6,4 billion in arrears to international financial institutions, bilateral, and private creditors.
“Zimbabwe has been in default since 2000. A Staff Monitored Programme with the International Monetary Fund to help Zimbabwe implement economic policies from May 2019 to March 2020 ended in September 2019. ....
