CROSS - Eve


Eve Cross was born April 9, 1929 at Armstrong, BC, the youngest child of Charles and Dorothy (Greenhill) Rees. She received her education in Armstrong and at Victoria Normal School and following, taught school in Peachland, BC. This is where she met her future husband, Robert Tracy Cross. Eve and Tracy were married July 10, 1952. It was shortly after they were united in marriage they made the move to Yorkton. Eve helped her mother-in-law with her greenhouse and market garden just west of town. After her mother-in-law s passing, they continued the business until they moved to the city in 1996. Tracy and Eve were blessed with two children: Larry in 1956 and Barbara in 1961. Eve enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking. Her talents often earned her many prizes at fair time in Yorkton. More recently, she baked for the Legion weekly cribbage and kept fit by attending regular aquasize classes. Eve will be fondly remembered and missed dearly. Eve was predeceased by her father in ....

FRENCH - William Joseph


William Joseph Bill French was born on February 21, 1929 in Galt, ON, the third, but first surviving child of Michael and Marjorie (nee Hodgson) French. He was raised on the family farm in the Township of Puslinch, County of Wellington in Ontario. Bill attended Killean School, continuing on to Grade 9 and 10 in Hespeler School where he rode the five and half miles on bicycle to attend school. In 1943, at the age of 14 years, he began working on the family farm while his father continued to work in Dominion Woolens and Worsted in Hespeler. In 1947 his father returned to running the farm and Bill worked for two years in the Woolen Mill. In 1949, Bill began an auto mechanics apprenticeship with Alvin W. Gingrich in Hespeler. Bill obtained his Ontario Auto Mechanics Journeyman s Certificate in 1954. In April of 1955 he came west to Brandon, MB and obtained employment at Victoria Motors in Brandon, MB. BREZINSKI - Betty Leona


Betty Leona Brezinski of Yorkton, formerly of Invermay, passed away peacefully at her home in Aspen Bluff Villa, Yorkton on Sunday, January 1, 2017. She was 83 years of age. Betty was born on November 16, 1933 on the family farm in the Buchanan District, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Wolkowski) Soloski. Her siblings were Rudy, Joyce, Al and Bronoslaw, who died in infancy. She completed grade 9 at Buchanan School and at the age of 16 ventured to Winnipeg to work as a receptionist at St. Joseph s Hospital. About a year later she returned home and became a teller at the Royal Bank in Invermay. In May 1952 Betty met the love of her life, Marion, at a Feast Day celebration at St. Andrew s Church, north of Invermay. In October of that same year Betty became Marion s wife at St. Ann s R.C. Church, Buchanan. NAGY - Elmer Arpod


Elmer Arpod Nagy entered his eternal rest on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. Peter s Hospital in Melville, SK, with his family by his side, at the age of 87 years. Elmer was born on July 24, 1927 on the farm west of Otthon, the son of Joseph and Irma (nee Balog) Nagy. He attended Oak Hill School until he completed his Grade Eight. He worked on the family farm and was also employed at various jobs in lumber camps, construction sites and machine shops as a mechanic. Elmer married the love of his life, Eunice on July 3, 1950. They settled in the Oak Hill district and farmed for over 50 years and were blessed with seven children. Elmer enjoyed farming, loved the land and he worked hard to make his farm a success. He ran a mixed farming operation and had raised many animals, but had a particular love for horses. He would hitch them up and his family enjoyed many sleigh rides at Christmas time. Elmer loved his family, and was proud to say he had seven children and enjoyed telling people ....
