(WLOX) - Biloxi Mayor Andrew âFoFoâ Gilich will serve another term as the cityâs mayor after his lone opponent was disqualified. Friday, the Democratic Executive Committee ruled Arneka Gardner-Keys did not live in the city limits, and therefore did not meet the qualifications to run for the office. The committee also removed Maurice âMoâ Williams from the ballot for the Biloxi Ward 2 council seat, leaving incumbent Felix Gines facing independent Tracey Smith in the general election. ....

But they’re going about it in a very specific way to gather some of the most commonly used items. Each city is collecting one item, for instance Waveland is taking donations of rice, while Gulfport concentrates on bringing in peanut butter. Donations will be collected for one month, starting Friday, February 12th until Friday, March 12th. A final outdoor box packing will take place Friday, March 12th at noon at the Lyman Community Center. Extra Table will then divide the number of boxes packed by participating cities giving equal amounts of food to each of Extra Table’s coastal pantry partners. (WLOX) - Two students from Bay-Waveland Middle School are now charged with felonies after deputies found they had guns on school property this week. The firearms were discovered Thursday after a fire alarm was inadvertently triggered at the middle school, and deputies from the School Resource Division of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded. Once on campus, the deputies were told a student had a gun in their possession, and the campus was immediately locked down. ....
