we re reporting live in hialeah, nbc 6 news. police are looking for a man who robbed a jewelry store of half a million dollars in merchandise. it took place at o.f. jewelers in hollywood. investigators say the suspect walked into the familywned business wearing a ski mask. he pistol-whipped one of the employees and locked another person in the bathroom. he did make offith $500,000 wortd worth of jewelry. if you know anythihig about the heist, call broward crime stoppers. a car crashed into a garage in lauderhill. marissa bagg live at the scene to show us more of what happened here. reporter: we re standing right in front of that garage. you can see for yourself what s left of it. some neighbors here trying to i m tololhe just bought a bunch of hurricane proof windows in there and most of those got smashed up. the neighbor that lives across the street was getting in her car to move it up in her kriveway when the car started revving uncontrollabley and the car went in rev

hoping they would not totally freak out and escape. we really don t have time to think. i m sure the horses are in a little bit of shock. i m from oklahoma, so i know about tornadoe . you don t expect it in the middle of february on a tuesday morning to get whacked by a tornado. reporter: many of these horses panicked and bolted out of their stalls. he broke his stall. and he ran around? yeah, he broke out. somebody got here b bfore me and caught him. i guess when the tree fell on his stall, he broke through. reporter: sharon runs a horse therapy program out of this park. and some of her clients will be missing a few days. devastated rig now. the tree s on the roof and eperything. thank god our horses are okay and they ll be able to serve our children and our veterans. reporter: crews made tremendous progress today in cleaning up the debris. but some of the structural damage will take longer to fix. the one wounded horse, elvis, aew stitches in his side. p
dump trucks full of debris. jamie guirola, nbc 6 news. this morning s storms uprooted trees and left neighborhoods a mess. the winds were so powerful, it also wreaked havoc for drivers on i-95 during the morning rush hour. nbc 6 anchor keith jones is live from north miami beach tonight. reporter: here at 95, yards from where i m standing, contrary to popular belief, the twister did not blow that tractor-trailer over. what happened was onon of those huge green signs that span over i-95 south was blown into traffic. three cars then wrecked trying to avoid that sign. that trtor-trailer jackknifed trying to avoid those three cars. nobody was hurt. absolute mess on 95. and also in a nearby neighborhood. i was sleeping. and then i heard a crazy boom. reporter: here s the source. a 30-year-old tree ripped out at its base, 12 feet in diameter. court. julia didngt know it was a tornado at first. i got an alert on my phone, shelter. i had a panic attack. reporter: here s wh
cops were called. they had like a blanket that they took out of their car that was full of phones and wallets and around $500 in money, credit cards. reporter: it s unclear how many cars were hit and less than two months ago carlos himself was ripped off. i had bags. i forgot to close my car. i had some money in there. when i came back, we opened it up to deposit the money that was there. it was gone. reporter: someonon took him for 200 bucks and a lesson learned. something the whole neighborhood can appreciate. i don t feeee quite as at ease about leaving doors open. won t be so c celess in the future. reporter: all three suspects are charged here with burglary and theft. bso detectives made pretty quick work of this one. made the arrest at 5:30 this morning. they started returning the wallets andell phones to the victims in this case. nbc 6 news. west palm beach teenager arrested for posting as doctor. robinson facing grand theft charges in a new and unrelated c
