Top Shelf International has revealed its new agave spirit will be market-ready in September, marking the major milestone for the Eden Lassie farm south of Bowen. It will deliver a uniquely Whitsunday product to the Australian market which has proven to be among the largest consumers of tequila behind only the US and Mexico. And all projections show that trend continuing, a factor Melbourne-based distiller Top Shelf International is keen to tap into, adding to its Ned Whisky and Grainshaker vodka product range. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only It’s all ‘hoppening’ in the Whitsundays with Ballistic Beer Co set to open a new craft brewery in Cannonvale, turning the tap on a rapidly growing food and dining market. The award-winning brewing company, known for its small batch brews and special releases, has acquired the Whitsunday Islands Brewing Company in Cannonvale. Ballistic CEO David Kitchen said the addition of the 1000 litre brewhouse on Commerce Close was an important step in the company’s plan to become the biggest independent brewery in Queensland, and marked the first regional venue. The Airlie Beach outlet will include a taproom and will be managed by a specialist in-house brewer serving a range of Ballistic beers, limited releases, and a selection of beers specifically chosen for the local market. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A building that houses a prominent Airlie Beach business has sold for millions, however the chief financial officer says operations will continue as usual. The large property is home to Porters Whitsunday Mitre 10 in Cannonvale and sold for $5.4 million in November. Porters Group CEO Travis Cunnane said the building went to auction and sold to a Sydney investor but the group remained committed to the region long term. He stressed the Porters Mitre 10 business would continue as normal for customers and staff. “We’ve signed a long-term lease,” Mr Cunnane said. “We plan to be there for a very long time and still have a store in Proserpine. ....
