Before the tournament began, Wes Loganpredicted it would take 55 pounds to win.
He was wrong. It took 57 pounds.
The Springville native landed 57 lbs. 9 oz. to land the blue trophy Monday at the 2021 Whataburger Bassmaster Elite at Neely Henry Lake. He beat Paul Mueller, who was 1 lb. 6 oz. back in second place.
“I give it all I had,” Logan said at Monday’s weigh-in. “I’ve led some tournaments going to the last day but never been able to close it out. To do it here on this body of water as many hours I’ve spent here, it just makes this that more special, and to do it in front of all of these people it’s even more special. The good Lord blessed me.” ....

Despite a slow start, a big loss and a painful injury, Brandon Card caught a Day-3 limit of 2110 And retained the lead at the Lake Fork Bassmaster Elite Series in Texas.
Entering day 3 with an 11-ounce lead over Quentin Cappo, Card bolstered his first two days’ weights of 27-06 and 28-01 to tally a three-day total of 77-01. Card heads into Championship Sunday with a 3-pound cushion over Cappo.
Camping in Little Caney Creek the first two days, Card spent most of his time on a shallow point he called his “Hammer Hole” and leveraged a shad spawn for the majority of his fish. Today, that bite proved elusive and Card had to make position and presentation changes. ....

For three days, the question lingered: Would Rodman Reservoir play a significant role in the St. Johns River Bassmaster Elite Series. On day 3, Patrick Walters erased any doubt with a five-bass limit of 26-07 that gave him the lead with a three-day total of 58-10.
Walters will enter the final round with a 3-ounce lead over Greg Hackney.
“Rodman didn’t play two years ago, and it didn’t play last year because (it was in a drawdown). So, I thought it has to be good this year,” Walters said. “I flipped a coin on it and it worked. ....
