When i graduated from college in virginia, i went right into my first job. I covered the Virginia State legislature for Wdbj Television in roanoke. And talk about dysfunctional. The first republican governor had jus
Flanagan ii. He killed a reporter and camera man live on the air in virginia today, and hes from the bay area. Flanagan cited the Church Shootings in South Carolina as one motivation for actions today. He described himself as a powder keg, ready to explode. And that is apparently what happened this morning when a reporter and photographer he used to work with were conducting a live interview. This is as much of the video we feel comfortable showing. He is described as a 41yearold disgruntled employee of the station. He shot himself after the pursuit and died a few hours later. Laura anthony is live with reaction from his family. Laura, lets start with you. Reporter that is right, dan. Flanagan lived and worked on the east coast, but he grew up in oakland and still has family here in vallejo. He cited the Church Shootings last month as part of his motivations for the violent actions today. He described himself as a powder keg ready to explode, and thats apparently what happened this morning when a reporter and a photographer he used to work wi with. Reporter a spokesperson for Vester Flanagans family read a statement in front of the home of flanagans sister in vallejo. It is with heavy hearts and sadness we express our deepest condolences to the family of Alison Parker and adam ward. We are also praying for vicki gardner. Reporter earlier, Virgil Barker told us hes known flanagan since he was a baby and saw no signs of what he is accused of doing in virginia, shooting a cameraman and reporter to death on live tv. He was very polite. Well spoken. Educated. I never seen it coming. Reporter according to barker, flanagan grew up in this h
