didn t return home from jogging. she was found in this grassy area near a bike path around four hours later, around 11:15 last night, just a few blocks from her home, and she was pronounced dead here at the scene. now, investigators say that her death does appear to be suspicious and this brush area where she was found is just across the street from a residential neighborhood where residents this morning say they know, ??you see so close by, it really a shock. really a shock. i feel bad for the parents. she went jogging, you know, and she never, you know, returned home. i think somebody had to find her. ed sad and shocking that it s right in your back yard, and if you hear something like this going on, crazy. very sad. reporter: again, evidence as they try to piece together what happened in this case. so far, though, police have not confirmed the identity of that victim. reporting live this morning from howard beach, queens, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. all right, j ....
innocent bystander was killed as a result of this shootout. the police scene now stretching for blocks here on 198th street, evidence markers show the bullet casings left over from this shootout early this morning. sources say the commotion started out in the street and then spread inside the store. they say that someone flagged two police officers down who went into the store and they were approached by a 30-year- old suspect who grabbed one of the officers guns and began firing. a second officer responding back with shots, and that s once in the torso and that innocent bystander was shot and killed. now, witnesses say they saw the bystander being taken out of the deli. they say he is a 49-year-old man, a store employee, well known in the neighborhood who was just cleaning the shop at the time. i was upstairs in my apartment, and i just kept on hearing a whole bunch of shots. it actually didn t even sound like shots, so, you know, after about five or six of them wen ....
