meteorologist crystal klein has some new information about matthew. you just got this update within the last few moments? that s right. we have the 5:00 a.m. update from the national hurricane center. matthew is interacting with land for awhile now and we have that earlier models showing a pretty harsh right turn starting this morning. those have started to change. on top of that we re sucking up some of that moisture as well. just as expected that cold front has been moving in hanging right near our area currently. on top of the cold front we ve got that moisture pulled from the south. the rain we re seeing pretty empressive over parts of delaware, as well as right along the jersey shore. moderate to light rain moving through philadelphia and weakening as we move into parts of the suburbs as well as the lehigh valley. we do have rain throughout our area. there s the cold front i was talking about. it s going to very slowly progress to the east today. meaning chances ....
see some sunshine just ahead in the first alert forecast. nbc 10 news starts now. good morning, welcome back to nbc 10 news today, i m rosemary connors. it s just after 6:00 on this sunday. matthew no longer a hurricane. but still a powerful storm. let s get the very latest from meteorologist krystal klei. krystal? yeah, the storm is affecting us this morning. we expected that we would see rain through your saturday. that s what we saw into the afternoon overnight, and that potential into the morning hours. so that s what we re seeing. it s going to hang around through the morning hours a bit more because matthew s path is changing just a tad. meaning we re grabbing a little more moisture as we move through your morning hours. 59 degrees, rain in philadelphia. 58 in the suburbs. we re also 58 degrees in the lehigh valley. and delaware where we see some of the heavier rain coming down this morning with some breezy conditions, as well. currently. so there s a look ....
been watching the storm s path. we are seeing the effects of both matthew and that cold front we ve been talking about for days now. the cold front really is affecting the forecast. because it s also pushing matthew along this morning. there s a look where 47 degrees in mount pocono. mid 50s to lancaster. then you look in philadelphia, at 57 degrees. and nearing 60 degrees atlantic city. so the cooler air not yet affecting us much but what i expect is that through your morning and even early afternoon, temperatures that you see now aren t going to change much at all because of that cold front that is currently passing through our zone. it s going to extend by later today and that s going to help push out the rain that we re currently tracking. already we re seeing that effect. the very light green is just drizzle or rain. so areas like allentown are in store for some sunshine through the afternoon. then you see more heavy rains passing through philadelphia, the shore, ....
