And one year, seven times as an elected position and this body trying to get into the Chamber Office building on the congressional side, i understand some part of what too many have experienced. This Police Reform legislation does that and provides clear opportunities for us to say not only do we hear you, not only do we see you we are responding to your pain. Because we in america believe that justice should be applied equally to all citizens with no exception. And when we see exceptions it is our responsibility to do something about those and this legislation helps us get there. We received the letter from senator schumer on the other side saying there were five things about the d justice act my response is simple lets have the amendments if we can get on these two sides of the chamber and we should do that in the legislation i met with other senators.
Congressional side i understand some part of what too many have experienced. This Police Reform legislation, the justice act, we have opportunities to say not only do we hear you, not only do we see you, we are responding to your pain. We in america believe justice should be applied equally to all of our citizens with no exceptions. When we see exceptions it is our responsibility to do something about those exceptions in this legislation helps us get there. I say to my colleagues on the other side, received a letter from senator schumer saying there are five things about the justice act that did not meet their principles. My response is a simple one, lets have five amendments on those things. If we can get the votes of these two sides of the chamber we should include that in the legislation.
