A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday sentenced a member of the National Youth Service Corps, Sam Abiola, and one Adebiyi Sodiq, to various terms of imprisonment for attempted cheating and engaging in a love scam.
The duo, who were arrested during a raid in September 2020 at a school in Offa, Kwara State, were arraigned last Monday before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Abiola, 26, currently serving in Kogi State, and Sodiq, 18, were arraigned on separate charges.
While one count charge was preferred against Abiola, Sodiq was prosecuted on four counts.

The lingering crisis in the All Progressives Congress in Benue State turned bloody on Sunday as the party’s caretaker chairman in Gboko South Local Government Area ward, Tersoo Ahu, was killed.
The Punch reliably gathered that Ahu was killed by some hoodlums when he went to assess preparations towards the registration in Gboko
The exercise is scheduled to commence on Tuesday.

Strong indications emerged in Ilorin, on Sunday that warring factions of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress will conduct parallel registration membership exercises.
Investigations by our correspondent revealed that the two factions have started mobilising members for the exercise billed to commence on Tuesday.
The embattled state chairman of the party, Bashir Bolarinwa, insisted that he remained the authentic chairman adding that those who will carry out the exercise had already been trained.
Meanwhile, the Abdullahi Samari-led faction of the party made up of loyalists of the state governor, equally announced that it had trained party staff who would register party members.
