Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, has said that the Bacita Sugar Company, the first Nigerian sugar manufacturer, would start production again in 2023.
Adebayo while Speaking at the official commissioning of the Nigeria Sugar Institute at Jimba-Oja in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State said the commitment of the Federal Government to partner with private investors in sugar industry would accelerate industrialisation and hasten the economic growth of the country.
The minister said that investment already made by the Federal Government and the private sector in sugar industry was capable of creating over 100,000 jobs in agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

Members of the State Working Committee of the Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress have expressed optimism that the party will emerge stronger after the resolution of the current crisis rocking it.
The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Aro Folaranmi, said this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin, on Tuesday.
He, alongside other members of the committee, appealed to party members to participate enmasse in the forthcoming membership revalidation/registration exercise to ensure that this happens.
The APC party leader, who said that the crisis was being resolved at both the national and zonal levels, added that the registration exercise was being given priority because of its importance to the party.

Supporters of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, under the aegis of Concerned APC Youth Stakeholders, on Sunday, held a joint prayer session to seek divine intervention to end the crisis bedeviling the party.
The prayer session was held at the state APC Secretariat, Ilorin, with Pastor Benjamin Adekunle leading the Christian prayers while Mallam Amidu Jimoh, did the same for Muslims.
The prayer warriors asked God to intervene in the crisis and restore peace within the party’s rank and file.
Meanwhile, the crisis of confidence among members of the party worsened as chairmen in the 193 wards announced their preferences.
