The crisis in the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has shown no sign of abating following allegations by loyalists of the state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, that state party leaders were working to undermine him.
Abdulrazaq’s loyalists who vowed to sink or sail with him should he desire to seek a second term in 2023, on Monday, accused the state party Chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa, and some party leaders including, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo and Professor Shuaib Abdulraheem, of using the media to disparage the governor.
The governor’s loyalists leveled the allegation at a press conference in Ilorin.

A 24-year-old lady teacher, Medinat Ibrahim, who allegedly faked her own kidnap in the Olude, Oke-Fomo area, Ilorin, Kwara State last Saturday said she committed the crime to raise money to settle debt which accrued from the monthly contribution in her place of work.
Medinat, who was paraded alongside two other suspects – Amudalat Wahab (30) and Hammed Lekan (28) – by the Kwara State Police Command on Wednesday, said she decided to commit the offence as a result of frustration and stoppage of her salary by her employer following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

Kwara state government has imposed another lockdown in the state from 12 midnight to 4 am with effect from Thursday, December 24, 2020.
The lockdown was contained in the new guidelines on COVID-19 issued on Wednesday by the state Technical Committee on COVID-19.
Addressing a press conference in Ilorin, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Rasaq who doubles as the vice-chairman of the Technical Committee on COVID-19 said, “There shall be partial statewide lockdown between 12 am and 430a.m. until further notice.
“These new guidelines take effect from Thursday, December 24, 2020.”
Other measures announced by the committee included, “Appropriate use of face mask in public places is mandatory. Concerts/carnivals/Clubbing are not allowed until further notice.

The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Tuesday presented a budget proposal of N123,091,307,468 to the House of Assembly.
Abdulrazaq said the budget was made up of N66,420bn for recurrent expenditure, representing 54 per cent, and N56,671bn for capital expenditure, representing 46 per cent.
According to the governor, the fiscal plan will be funded from statutory allocations receipts estimated at N35,202,116,840; Value Added Tax of N14,613,315,409; other sundry revenues from the federal allocation pegged at N4,792,119,551; internally generated revenue estimated at N28,754,218,374; income from other sundry sources at N193,322,646; aid and grants pegged at N16,427,182,208; other capital receipts estimated at N9,458,032,440; and an opening balance of N13,651,000,000.
