We have some freezing rain that will move into western iowa initially. Around 9 00 a. M. , accumulations could be higher. Heading west of the metro, around 3 00 p. M. , we will start to see a change around webster county. In the metro, it may hold off until around 9 00 for our temperatures to drop below freezing. It will get icf there. Subsurface temperatures in the 40s. 40s dropping to the 30s. We click on down to just around 32 degrees at 9 00. Not a great impact on southeastern iowa because you will stay above freezing right into early friday morning. I do want to point out again, this is thursday night for the metro, for most of us it will be very wet. Notice how temperatures just drop off. Car, thought it was a tree. Cynthia a tree stuck out through what was left of the car, so mangled, police couldnt tell the make or model at first. A neighbor told me the impact sounded like a bomb went off. The saturn was cut in half after shearing off the power pole which sparked, catching nearby trees on fire. Our belief is that it was traveling at a high rate of speed. Cynthia neighbors say its not unusual for cars to fly down 35th street, speculating this one could have been travelling 100 miles per hour. They race, think its a speedway. Especially at night. Theyll try to run over you for the fun of it. Cynthia family tells me the driver who was caught just after the accident said someone was chasing him and gunshots were fired.
