The Giz’s superb lap
of 1 minute 30.231 puts him on pole position for Sunday’s
morning race on Grand Prix day. Pole position for the first
race on Saturday goes to Friday pace setter Chris van der
Drift who’s second fastest time was quicker than the
Bathurst 1000 champion’s. A second qualifying session on
Sunday morning will decide the grid order for the Grand Prix
itself.

Fifteen cars will be on the grid for the first
round of the 2021 Best Bars Toyota 86 Championship and it s
a field brimmed with both proven and up and coming
talent.

The championship
has for some time been one of the toughest to win in New
Zealand motorsport and it s no surprise that most of the
winners have used it as a stepping stone to other categories
in their careers. This season promises even more on the

Clark will race in the weekend’s Grand Prix and completes
the 16 driver line up.

award for outstanding performance.
As well as his
successful campaign in the Chinese Formula 4 championship
where he secured no fewer than 12 race wins on his way to
the title, Clark debuted internationally in the USA Formula
4 championship in 2018 where he learnt the foundations of
international motorsport and has continued to capitalise on
that experience since.

Reigning Best Bars Toyota 86 Champion Peter Vodanovich has today confirmed he will take part in the full nine race 2021 Castrol Toyota Racing Series.

The 19 year old Aucklander will compete in his first single seater championship when he takes to the track for the first round in January, the 66th New Zealand Grand Prix on Hampton Downs’ long circuit.
Vodanovich doesn’t have a background in karting as so many racing drivers of all levels do. His skill set was forged behind the wheel of a simulator and put to the test over just two years of racing in New Zealand’s popular 2K Cup Category, in a BMW E30 and in a Ssangyong Actyon Ute after winning the 2017-2018 Ssangyong Scholarship.
