A huge weekend for Rowan Shepherd brought two
more wins on Sunday at the third round of the Best Bars
Toyota 86 Championship and propelled him into the points
lead ahead of Simon Evans and Ryan Wood.

Sunday started well for
Wood as he got his own title challenge in the championship
back on track with a crucial win on the road. Unfortunately

Rural councils have managed to find 500 jobs for young people and those displaced by Covid-19, as part of a $11.5 million community recovery programme set up mid-2020. It represents just under half of the 1150-job target the 23 rural councils have to meet, under their partnership agreement with funder Ministry of Social Development, through the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs. Each council had the chance to apply for $500,000, to find 50 jobs each, or training and education opportunities for young people in their communities or those out of work because of the impact of coronavirus.

Ryan Wood took his
first victory in the first race of the 2021 Best Bars Toyota
86 Championship after a faultless lights-to-flag victory at
Hampton Downs.
Wood made the most of pole position and
executed the perfect getaway to lead into the first turn.
The young gun, starting his second season in the
championship, had to resist early pressure from series
debutant Rowan Shepherd before gaining an advantage of a few
car lengths and cruising home to win.
“It was a hard
race,” he said afterwards. “I knew Simon had lots of
experience but I managed to hold my own in the changing
