New Mexico State Police have identified the Torrance County deputies who shot and injured a man last month in Bosque Farms. State Police spokesman Dusty Francisco said Torrance County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jordan Duran and deputy Pablo Arreola shot 28-year-old Joshua Francis of Oklahoma on March 16 following a chase that began in Mountainair. After Francis recovered in the hospital, Francisco said he was charged with two counts of aggravated battery upon a peace officer. He has been booked into the Valencia County jail. He said Francis called 911 around 2 a.m. to report that he was holding a woman hostage at the Rock Motel in the Town of Mountainair and wanted to die in a shootout with police.

Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal Torrance County deputies shot and injured an Oklahoma man early Tuesday morning near Bosque Farms after he allegedly held a woman hostage and attempted to strike authorities with his truck, according to New Mexico State Police. State Police spokesman Mark Soriano said Joshua Francis, 28, is recovering in the hospital and will face criminal charges when released. No deputies were injured in the incident. “This investigation remains active and open, and is being led by the New Mexico State Police,” he said. “The details of the shooting remain under investigation.” Soriano said Francis called 911 around 2 a.m. to report that he was holding a woman hostage at the Rock Motel in the Town of Mountainair and wanted to die in a shootout with police. He said Torrance County Sheriff s Office deputies and Mountainair police responded to the situation and found a 28-year-old woman, also from Oklahoma, on the ground in front of one of the rooms.
