All Senior class students attending Wayne County Illinois high schools will have the opportunity to participate in the student class trip to Washington D.C. for the first time in four years. The last time 12th graders from Cisne, Fairfield, and Wayne City High Schools were able to take this annual trip to D.C was April, 2019, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's trip will be extended by an extra day for the first time, allowing the students to also tour Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the amazing home and property of America's third President near Charlottesville, VA. This new feature will be part of the return trip home, following the Seniors' experience of many of the highlights of our Nation's Capital. This upcoming student trip is scheduled for April 20th - April 24th, 2023. The Bernard and Naomi L. As of today, the Illinois mask mandate for most venues has been lifted. Masks are no longer mandated by the state in bars, restaurants, and grocery stores thanks to a rapid decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the last month-plus. However, Governor J.B. Pritzker says cities, villages, and businesses are free to apply their own mitigations. Any federal mask mandates will also continue to apply, including in places like mass transit, healthcare settings, long-term care facilities, prisons, and daycares. The governor announced Friday the state's school mask mandate also ends today. The Illinois Supreme Court ended a temporary restraining order prohibiting masking for schools named in a lawsuit from Sangamon County Court Friday, but the governor says the ruling also said, if a mandates needs to go into effect in the future, the State does have that authority.
