Cornut-Chauvinc Ready for NCAA Singles Tournament

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc will open the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship as the No. 7 national seed Monday at 10 a.m. at USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida. 

For Florida State in the 2023 ACC Tournament, Cornut-Chauvinc clinched the first-round victory over No. 64 Clemson with a victory on court one. Previously this season, Cornut-Chauvinc clinched a 4-3 victory over No. 44 Miami after defeating No. 51 Dan Martin in three sets.  

Cornut-Chauvinc led Florida State with 16 dual wins this spring while playing at No. 1. With 11 wins over nationally ranked opponents, Cornut-Chauvinc anchored Florida State’s singles lineup and ascended as high as No. 2 in the national singles rankings, earning the highest singles ranking in program history. 

Cornut-Chauvinc was a unanimous All-ACC first-team selection for singles and earned third-team all-conference honors for doubles alongside Joshua Dous-Karpenschif.  ....

Loris Pourroy Falls in Three Sets at NCAA Singles Championships

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois –Loris Pourroy, the nation’s No. 51-ranked singles player, competed in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship on Monday at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois. He dropped a 2-6, 6-4, 5-7 decision in three sets to No. 11 Hamish Stewart from the University of Georgia. “Loris played a guy that he's played a couple times and battled hard today,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “It's a tough loss, but Loris has had a great year and has a lot to be proud of playing court one on the team, making the NCAA Tournament and lots of accolades and more to come.” It was a rematch of the second round of the team NCAA Tournament when Pourroy and Stewart competed on court one for their respective schools. Pourroy dropped the first set Monday but battled back to win the second. He and Stewart were on-serve for the first nine games, placing Pourroy in the lead 5-4. Loris Pourroy Ready for NCAA Singles Championship

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois – Loris Pourroy, the 51st-ranked singles player in the country, will open the NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Championship on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois.

“Loris has had a great year with an outstanding record,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “He’s been a great player this spring, and we’re going to go up to the individual championships and see what he can do.”

Pourroy will face 11th-ranked Hamish Stewart from the University of Georgia in the first round. The two just competed in the second round of the team NCAA Tournament earlier this month which Stewart won.

For Florida State in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, Pourroy clinched the first-round match with a win over No. 59 Georgia State on court one. Previously this season, Pourroy clinched the ACC Tournament first-round match with a win over 57th-ranked Axel Nefve from No. 35 Notre Dame.
