No 17 Florida State Earns Bid to NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 17 Florida State men’s tennis team has been selected to their 24th NCAA tournament in program history, it was announced Monday. The Seminoles will be traveling to Columbia, South Carolina to play Baylor in the first round of the NCAA tournament. South Carolina State and host South Carolina are the other teams in the region. Florida State has made 23 NCAA tournament appearances. This will be the Seminoles 9th NCAA tournament appearance in the last 10 years. In last year’s NCAA tournament, Florida State defeated Georgia State before upsetting Georgia to advance to the Super Regional. The Seminoles look to add to their 17-match win total in the NCAA tournament. Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist has 17 NCAA appearances while coaching Florida State. Florida State compiled 10 ranked wins in the spring, with three of those wins coming against top-15 opponents. Singles and doubles selections for NCAA championships will be released Tuesday. No 18 Florida State Completes Comeback, Defeats No 44 Miami 4-3

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 18 Florida State men’s tennis team defeated No. 44 Miami 4-3 on Wednesday evening at Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. “Tonight, we really had to dig deep, Miami came out and played really well and won the doubles point, and continued the momentum in singles and won a got bunch of quick first sets,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “We had to fight back, which shows our capacity as a team to never be out. The crowd is a big advantage for us, and they stayed the full time. TALLAHASSEE – The 16th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team won its home opener and improved to 3-0 this season with a 5-2 victory over No. 7 Georgia on Sunday afternoon. “Georgia has a great team,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “To beat them here is great for our program. This is two years in a row we’ve beaten them. We feel like we have a very good team, and we have a lot to prove here early in the year. We have lots of tough, high-ranked teams that we play but we did that by design. We’re thrilled to get this win.
