Letters to parents list COVID-19 infections at Oak Ridge Schools

Oak Ridge Schools Superintendent Bruce Borchers has stated in letters over the past few days that various students and staff at various schools have tested positive for COVID-19.
On Wednesday, he reported one Jefferson Middle School student had tested positive who was last at a school building or event Feb. 5. In the same letter, he said two Oak Ridge High School students tested positive who were last in school buildings or events Friday, Feb. 19, and Wednesday, Feb. 24.
As of Wednesday, no Oak Ridge Schools staff were currently positive but 0.19% of Oak Ridge Schools students were positive. All parties are currently isolated at home, Borchers stated in the letter.
COVID-19 deaths grow by three in Anderson, Roane counties

Two more Anderson County residents and one additional Roane County resident have died of COVID-19 since last Friday, the Tennessee Department of Health website showed on Monday.
The death total for both counties now stands at 149 in Anderson County, as of Monday, and 95 in Roane County. Active cases of the novel coronavirus total 206 in Anderson County Monday, compared with 200 Friday, and 200 in Roane County, compared with 195 on Friday.
Across the state on Monday, only four more people had died from the virus since Sunday for a total of 10,937. Active cases grew by 1,143 across the state since Sunday for a total of 758,561. Current hospitalizations, as of Monday, totaled 1,091.
New infections in AC dropping? 148 dead from coronavirus
Five more Anderson County residents have died of COVID-19 since reports earlier this week.
At midday Wednesday, the Tennessee Department of Health website showed a total of 148 deaths in Anderson County and 196 active cases. That is in comparison to the midday Monday total of 143 deaths and 255 active cases.
The Tuesday County Data Snapshot on the website indicated that 163 Anderson County residents with the novel coronavirus are hospitalized as of Tuesday.
The numbers of newly infected people appear to be decreasing. According to the website, between Jan. 27 and Feb. 9, approximately 27 new cases were reported each day compared to 39 cases in the prior 14-day period.

Another Oak Ridge Schools staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Monday letter from Oak Ridge Schools Superintendent Bruce Borchers sent out to families of students and staff. The employee was last at the school on Friday, Jan. 22.
All individuals who had potential close contact have been notified so they can quarantine in accordance with Tennessee Department of Health Guidelines.
Borchers said as of the time of that letter 0.57% of Oak Ridge Schools staff and 0.23% of Oak Ridge Schools students had active COVID-19 cases and all parties were isolated at home. The highest percentage of positive student cases was at Linden Elementary School with 0.55% while several schools including Oak Ridge Schools Preschool, Woodland Elementary and Jefferson and Robertsville middle schools had no currently active student cases.
