the santa clara county jail. and it has just been released. take a good look here. the sheriff s office says the fight broke out this afternoon in the maximum security housing unit of the downtown san jose jail. we first told you about the melee on abc 7 news at 4:00. the unit is still in lockdown mode this evening. inmates are being ordered to stay in their cells. sheriff laurie smith says no guards were hurt trying to break up this fight. and she just told us that it s a coincidence that the fight happened in this part of the jail where she had just put in new security cameras and had them installed yesterday. but that s where we installed the cameras. we don t have cameras in any of the other housing areas, and they only went in last night. it s interesting that it happened here. outside the jail this afternoon, we saw hazmat crews as they were called in to help clean off blood from the floor where the fighting broke out. sheriff smith says deputies used pe ....
