Roughly the size of alameda county. Its destroyed 26 structures and making it the largest fire by size but far less destructive than other recent fires. It was sparked by lightning. In butte county, seven more lives have been lost to the so called north complex fire. Bringing the death toll to ten. Last cycle the region only issued permits for 9 of the low Income Housing it was required to create. Market rate housing permits fared better at 71 of the way toward hitting that goal. Theres been kind of a cat and mouse game where the state says hey, heres a big housing minimum goal. You have to hit this minimum. And cities treat it like a ceiling instead of a floor. Reporter laura foot is the executive director of the mb action. Shes most excited able the fact the new housing goals also come with teeth. This time we seem to mean it. Which is very exciting. Were going to have housing goals and the state has said okay, were serious this time. Reporter the state can now intervene and force a community to build housing without much review at the local level. Local control means you get to choose how you meet your state housing goals. Not whether you meet your state housing goals. Reporter Affordable Housing advocates say these goals represent a real opportunity to execute and that if this goes well, we could see substantial impacts on affordability, equity, and homelessness. We can address that if we just all do our part and all sacrifice a little for the greater good. Reporter in final allocation for where these homes will be built isnt due until the end of 2021. Our temperatures are in the 50s this morning. From the upper 50s from concord, oakland, san jose. Mid 50s for livermore and San Francisco and 50 degrees for santa rosa. So we are looking at a dense fog advisory for the coast as well as into San Francisco. The visibility a quarter mile or less. Please be safe. That dense fog advisory until 10 00 a. M. So lets check the visibility. Near zero for halfmoon bay and petaluma and santa rosa. A mile and a half at sfo. Hayward as well as for livermore. And a mile and a quarter for oakland and for napa. As we look to maybe next week, we could see a stronger weather system that will bring that ocean breeze for us. But in the meantime, dealing with that smoke.
