India, which sends the largest number of STEM students to the United States, is making a sustained outreach with American universities to build knowledge partnerships. As part of this effort to build knowledge partnerships, India s ambassador to the US Taranjt Singh Sandhu has intensified interactions with US universities. With over 200,000 Indian students in the US, and most of them in the STEM areas, collaboration in higher education, is an area of exciting possibilities. There are opportunities for student exchanges; online education; university-to-university collaborations. We hope that with its strong focus on India, UNC will take the lead in this area, said Sandhu in his address to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during one such interaction.

Observing that people-to-people contacts and growing business linkages, especially in the technology and innovation sectors, are important aspects of expanding India-US strategic partnership, New Delhi’s top diplomat here has exuded confidence that Indian professionals will continue to be welcomed in America.
Combining India’s talent and strengths with the US capital and expertise in digital and IT space presents an ideal pathway for both the economies, India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjt Singh Sandhu told PTI in an interview.
“I am confident that Indian professionals will continue to be welcomed in the US,” he said.
