No. 2 seed New Bern turned in an offensive performance for the ages on Friday that included seven touchdowns from Aronne Herring, as the Bears rolled over No. 11 seed Rolesville 70-34 to reach the 4A East regional final.
With the victory, New Bern (14-0, 6-0) will now host No. 12 seed Millbrook with a spot to the title game on the line following the Wildcats' 19-14 road win over top-seeded Hillside.
Braden Atkinson threw three touchdown passes and Noah Rogers scored twice as No. 11 seed Rolesville overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat rival No. 3 seed Wake Forest, 42-28, on Friday in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A playoffs.
With the win, Rolesville avenged its four-point regular-season loss to the Cougars and will now travel to face No. 2 seed New Bern in the fourth round.
