Braden Atkinson threw three touchdown passes and Noah Rogers scored twice as No. 11 seed Rolesville overcame a 14-point deficit to defeat rival No. 3 seed Wake Forest, 42-28, on Friday in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A playoffs.
With the win, Rolesville avenged its four-point regular-season loss to the Cougars and will now travel to face No. 2 seed New Bern in the fourth round.
The No. 11 Millbrook Wildcats upset the No. 3 Wake Forest Cougars in convincing fashion by a 34-14 score to force a three-way tie atop the NAC standings on the road on Friday night.
No. 6 Wake Forest used a big third quarter to pull away from No. 17 Knightdale on Thursday, earning a 35-21 win on the road. Running back Michael Dipasquale scored a pair of touchdowns for the Cougars, who improved to 5-1 on the year. The loss was Knightdale's first of the year, and the Knights also hold a 5-1 record.
