Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) has appealed to the state government to revoke the service extension of the incumbent Director General of Police (DGP), T John Longkumer, and appoint the most eligible IPS officer from the state cadre to the top post. Expressing shock over the extension of the incumbent police officer’s service by six more months after the expiry of his “extended deputation” last month, the federation termed the move as “unreasonable, discriminatory and arbitrary”. In a press release, the NLSF reminded that it had objected when Longkumer, a cadre of Chhattisgarh, was appointed DGP of Nagaland on deputation for three years in 2018 despite not having the 30 years of service that’s needed to be considered for the post. It went on to say that it assumed the top cop’s deputation and subsequent extension of service from June 2021 to August 2022 was under “extraordinary circumstances and in the best interest of the state”. ....
Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN): The felicitation-cum-award giving ceremony for HSLC and HSSLC toppers 2022 for children of Nagaland Police personnel was held on August 18 at the mini-conference hall of the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Kohima. An update from the superintendent of police (crime) and PRO of PHQ stated that Nagaland DGP T John Longkumer, senior police officers of PHQ, unit commanders and other meritorious students and parents attended the programme through video conference from various parts of Nagaland. It stated that the DGP felicitated and presented the DGP commendation certificate along with cash of INR 30,000 per achiever to all the 13 meritorious children of Nagaland Police personnel in recognition for their excellent academic achievement and performance. Our Correspondent Kohima, June 27 (EMN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) felicitated Kedouvilie Zumu and Nlumrai, who won bronze medals at the 6th International Sports Festival – Belt Wrestling Championship, Pearl of Kyrgyzstan 2022 at Chon-sary-oi, Kyrgyzstan. A felicitation programme was held in their honour at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) building in Kohima on Monday. Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer, attended the occasion and hailed the NWA for building the foundation, providing the way and the road map for the wrestlers through their support and platform to the youngsters.
