Under the changes a person is a casual employee if an employee
accepts an offer of employment made by the employer to the employee
if it is made
on the basis that the employer makes no firm
advance commitment to continuing and indefinite work according to
an agreed pattern of work for the person.
Whether there is a firm advance commitment by an employer to
continue indefinite work will be determined based on whether the
employment is described as casual employment and whether the ....

Stimulus wind-down to fuel housing affordability stress

A new report has expressed policy concern that premature withdrawal of government stimulus measures amid COVID-19 could send many into housing affordability stress.
A complete phasing out of the federal government’s JobKeeper measure in March 2021 could tip 124,000 households into housing affordability stress (HAS), according to research.
The Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute’s (AHURI)
Supporting Australia’s housing system: modelling pandemic policy responses report said that 73 per cent of these households predicted to experience HAS would be private renters.
